The Juxtaposition of Research...I Love to Hate it.

If you're like me and do research, then this one is for you. In a recent PhD assignment, I started my second paragraph with this statement, “Research and I have a love/hate relationship. I love to hate it.” I figured honesty is always the best policy. But, as I unpacked my reflection on what is research I realized I don’t have it out for research as much as I originally thought.

Lists have a dark side too. They create structure, but can create concrete walls too. Living within lists can prevent you from experiencing curiosity and innovation. The structure of lists sometimes actually does cause you to miss things. What if solving problems for other people actually creates a whole new set of problems? What if we are robbing that person of the chance to learn? What do you think?
